IMPORTANT: Please read before you get started
- Theia offers sensor calibration within the Theia Health app (mobile or web). The calibration will not change what you see in the Libre app.
- You can calibrate Libre 14 day, Libre 2, or Libre 3 sensors
- The way you calibrate is through pricking your finger
- You can use any finger prick device you would like
- We do recommend that the finger prick device is also calibrated with control fluid as they can also be inconsistent.
- Time of your finger prick is critical to getting a good calibration
- Ideally you do you finger prick calibration readings fasted across multiple days or at least when you have not had food/drink (water is ok) within the last 4 hours
- The finger prick time will be adjusted by 15 minutes to match up with what your CGM is reading, this is because blood measurement is different from CGM measurement which is ISF, read more about that here: https://support.theiahealth.ai/hc/en-us/articles/13942144525979-Why-finger-prick-blood-glucose-won-t-always-match-your-sensor-readings
- You need at least 3 finger prick readings per sensor to calibrate
Steps to Calibrate
- To start calibrating, go to your sensors page in the navigation.
- Click on the "Calibrate w/ Finger Prick" button on the top right
- Enter the exact date/time that you did your finger prick
- Repeat at least 3 times per sensor
- Once you have 3 finger prick readings and have CGM data 15 minutes past your last finger prick reading, your sensor will calibrate
- You will see a column "Calibration" on your sensors page, which dictates the offset of the glucose measurement from your sensor. (ie. if your calibration is -5, then if your Libre app shows a glucose of 95, Theia will show 90)
- If you make a mistake and need to delete a calibration, you can see all your recorded calibrations on the sensors page if you scroll down, and are able delete any mistake or calibration that seems way off.
- Anytime you add a finger prick and have reached the minimum 3 readings to calibrate, it will immediately update all glucose graphs, daily scores, and activity scores that happened within the timeframe of that sensor.

My client entered her 2nd reading and it just says pending. She even tried deleting it and redoing it and it still says pending…what would you suggest?
Hi Kasey, Opening up a support ticket to follow up on this
I am not diabetic, only pre-diabetic, and do not have a finger pricking device. I am just signing up today for the CGM membership and devices. Will I need to buy a finger pricking device or will a sterile needle work?
Hi Patricia,
Calibration is only necessary in rare occasions when a sensor is off. Most of the time this is not needed as part of the Theia experience.
