If you’re using the Libre 2 sensors to track your biodata you’ll need to download the Libre 2 app to activate your sensor. The Libre 2 sensor will not work with the Libre 3 app and vice versa. The Libre 2 sensor offers a convenient way to monitor your glucose levels continuously with tap-to-transfer. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to help you set it up and start monitoring:
1. Download the App:
- For iPhone Users: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/freestyle-libre-2-us/id1472261444
- For Android Users: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.freestylelibre2.app.us&hl=en_US
2. Create an Account or Log In:
- Open the app and follow the prompts to create a new account or log in if you already have created a login (including logins created for the Libre 3 app).
3. Link Libre app & Theia (step 4 of onboarding)
- Go to the Theia app and complete step 4 of your onboarding process.
- If you have already completed this step previously, your data will already be connected. If you have different login information between the Libre 2 and Libre 3 app please contact our support team.

4. Prepare for Application (Once your sensor is received)
- Choose the right location: The Libre 2 sensor is applied to the back of your upper arm.
- Clean the area: Use an alcohol wipe to clean and disinfect the application area. Allow it to dry completely.
5. Apply The Sensor
- Peel off the packaging: Open up the Libre 2 sensor packaging and peel off the protective seal.
- Assemble the applicator: Follow the instructions to connect the sensor applicator to the sensor pack until you hear a click.
- Apply the sensor: Press the applicator firmly onto the cleaned area of your arm.
6. Activate the Sensor
- Activate the sensor: Open the Libre 2 app and follow the instructions to scan your new sensor. You’ll need to hold your smartphone close to the sensor to start it.
- Wait for the warm-up period: The sensor will take about 60 minutes to calibrate before it begins transmitting glucose data.
7. Monitor Your Glucose Levels
- Scan the sensor as needed: The Libre 2 sensor is tap to transfer and requires you to scan your device once every 8 hours for seamless data transmission. You can scan your sensor at any time to port over the stored data.
- Consequently, you will need to scan your sensor 3 times a day to avoid data loss. We find that right when you wake up, middle of the day, and after dinner are great check-in times.
- Log Activities:Log your activities in Theia to correlate inputs with your body's reactions.
Important Notes
- The Libre 2 app is specifically for Libre 2 sensors. If you are using a different model (such as Libre 3), you’ll need the corresponding app. If you have received the Libre 2 sensor, you must use the Libre 2 app.
